It's a bit too early to tell if the Great Financial Meltdown of 2008 is bringing better material to the market, but some wonderful items have been coming our way of late. My favourite is Peter Landais' rare 1784 account of a Revolutionary War naval battle - but perhaps that's just because it's the most recent purchase I've made. Other notables include a lovely chart of Bermuda, a run of Niles' Weekly Register, and an inscribed copy of Stedman's "Hardly Lee," with illustrations said to be by Winslow Homer. Speaking of fine art, Flatrocks Gallery is romping toward the conclusion of its opening year. If you're in the area over the Holidays, stop in and view our Christmas gift show of "wrap-able art" by local artists and artisans. Joe, Amanda and I send our best wishes for a happy holiday season, and thank you for your patronage and support. -Greg Gibson
