Wash. 1991. b/w plates. 4to. 199 pp. There has been an ongoing argument, which reached its zenith in the 1960s, as to whether Baltimore’s Constellation was the original vessel, built in 1797, or the second ship of that name, commissioned in 1855. Later discoveries showed that many of the documents used to support the 1797 argument were forgeries.
